Match the protection to the problem

An auto policy and a repair agreement address different risks. Comprehensive and collision can cover specified damage to your car, subject to policy terms. Ordinary maintenance, wear and mechanical failure are generally outside that protection. The California Department of Insurance auto guide explains these distinctions.

Check the contract before buying

A vehicle service contract may pay for specified repairs. Read who is responsible for payment, covered components, exclusions, deductibles, maintenance requirements and the claim procedure. Ask for the full agreement before deciding.

California has specific rules for repair agreements and their sellers. Follow the Department of Insurance’s service-contract guide and consumer warning; it warns against buying a vehicle service contract online, by telephone or by mail.

Questions about your insurance?

This guide is informational and is not an offer to sell a repair contract. Review auto insurance or contact CoverToday about your policy. Bring the declarations page and describe the protection you are looking for. We can discuss insurance in English or Russian.

Independent broker — we compare multiple carriers; coverage, eligibility, price and availability vary and may not be available to everyone. General information, not advice on a specific policy.
